Settling your child at nursery – the settling into nursery period will look different for each child. Some children will take longer than others as they are all unique. Once your child’s keyworker knows that your child will be starting with us, they will be in touch with you to talk you through this process.
1140 hours – What does the nursery day look like?
Mon – Thurs 8.45am Nursery opens
Mon – Thurs 3.15pm Nursery closes
Fri 8.45am – 12.45pm
Nursery operates an indoor/outdoor policy where children are free to choose the area they would like to play. There may also be parts of the day which are structured such as story time.
Lunch & snacks – Children are provided a free healthy morning & afternoon snack with a hot/cold lunch in between. You can see our lunch menus for each term on the news tab. Milk and water are available at all times. Our lunches are prepared by the staff from the campus school kitchen & delivered to us daily.
Uniform-
Uniform is not compulsory at Mayfield nursery. In fact, we can get so messy because we love playing in the sand, water & mud that wearing old clothes is best. We also have supplies of waterproofs & wellies to keep our clothing dry as much as we can, you are also welcome to bring your own.
Some of our families prefer to buy plain sweatshirts in the nursery green colour that can be bought much more cheaply from some of the big supermarkets.
If you would like to order nursery uniform here is the link to the supplier – https://mayfieldnursery.imagescotland.com/
Mayfield nursery are now using seesaw, which is an online tool for sharing learning between home and nursery. When your child starts nursery you will be invited to sign up for this.
